The humane movement has always faced an uphill battle as it competes with other charitable causes for support and perhaps in the struggle, many organizations have lost more than they have gained. In the need for financial contributions they have told only what pleases, fought only that which is popular and spoken only that which does not offend. As they have prostituted reality, the suffering of the individual animal is lost to the promotion of the organization's image.
There have always been those who have fought for animal welfare causes. These causes have risen and fallen in the eyes of the public according to the popularity of the subject. Traditionally, the public donations have mandated which animals will be rescued, preserved or guarded. The lowly burro may vanish while the majestic horse is wholeheartedly supported.
Even though many of the humane and environmental problems seem to be solved, the sad point is that new issues consistently show up. What appears to be a good solution often creates its own abuse.
Our present methods have us thinking the world to pieces rather than thinking it together. We often fail to follow through and see the consequences of our "solutions."
The depressing fact is many times groups and individuals react to a problem by loudly proclaiming what is wrong but are unwilling to be part of the often time consuming solution. Consistently animals are the losers.
During the past 27 years, one of the priorities of the LIFE Foundation has been to understand the causes of abuse to the environment and the lives within it.
Here we will show very real issues. It isn't always sugar coated and not always pleasant but the facts are undeniable, the solutions without hypocrisy and they are offered with true respect for those creatures in our care.
