Silver, The Lone Ranger's Horse
Ah, those thrilling days are gone, but not the memories.
According to a member of the family of the late Glenn Randall, the famous horse trainer, Silver's owner lived in the eastern part of United States and Silver was moved to California to work in films. Silver lived in the barn at the Randall Ranch in Newhall, California, during the filming of the Lone Ranger television series. Clayton Moore played the Lone Ranger in most all of the episodes and got along very well with Silver. The original Lone Ranger was Brace Beamer from Oxford, Michigan. Brace Beamer actually did own a horse of his own named Silver. Silver won the Award for Excellence (Patsy) in 1957. This award is for animals who are outstanding actors in the television and motion picture industry. Not much more is known about the horse that played Silver -- I'd welcome any information at all. |
